Olivier Coipel
Olivier Coipel is a French comic book artist, known for his work on books such as House of M, Siege, Legion of Super-Heroes and Thor. Recently he was seen on Mark Millar’s Magic Order title. I’ve written enough of these now and am willing to let Coipel’s art stand on it’s own. He’s probably thanking me for it too.
Leinil Yu
Leinil Francis Yu is a Filipino comic book artist, who began working for the American market through Wildstorm Productions. In an interview published in Marvel's Daily Bugle newsletter, he described his style as "Dynamic Pseudo-Realism. You may have seen his work on Super Crooks, Captain America, Secret Invasion, Superior, The Indestructible Hulk, and Superman Birthright.

Jock
Mark Simpson, known by the pen name Jock, is a British comic book artist, best known for Wytches, Batman: Black Mirror, Green Arrow Year One, and most recently The Batman Who Laughs. His style may stand out more than any other artist on this list and if any writer is looking for that gritty feel, Jock is at the top of all their lists.
Sean Phillips
Phillips is a British comic book artist, known for his work on Fade Out, Fatale, Sleeper, Criminal, and Kill or Be Killed. While his name almost always seems linked to Ed Brubaker, make no mistake many other writers would love to work with Phillips. Too bad he and Brubaker’s consistent output of quality titles limits any chance Marvel and DC have of pulling him away. He is currently working on Criminal with Ed Brubaker.

Sean Murphy
Murphy is an American comic book creator known for work on books such as Punk Rock Jesus, The Wake, Joe the Barbarian, Chrononauts, Tokyo Ghost and Batman: White Knight. While Sean Murphy may be on the artist side of the bracket, if the tournament was based on who could both write AND draw the best, Murphy should come out on top. Do yourself a favor and read a Batman: White Knight or a Punk Rock Jesus.
Fiona Staples
Staples is a Canadian comic book artist known for her work on books such as North 40, DV8: Gods and Monsters, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, Archie, and Saga. She has been cited as one of the best artists working in the industry today after winning multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards. Although on a break from Saga now, we should see more of Fiona Staples incredible art by the end of the year.
